American tennis star Ben Shelton has officially confirmed his participation in the 2026 Laver Cup, committing to represent Team World in the prestigious annual team competition. The event is scheduled to take place from September 25–27 at The O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom.
Third Laver Cup, Bigger Stage
Shelton, currently ranked World No. 6, will make his third appearance at the Laver Cup. He joins a strong Team World roster that already includes Taylor Fritz (World No. 7) and Alex de Minaur (World No. 8). On the opposing side, Team Europe has confirmed the participation of Carlos Alcaraz (World No. 2) and Alexander Zverev (World No. 3), meaning five of the world’s top 10 players are locked in for the 2026 edition.
A Stellar Season and Laver Cup Record
Shelton brings impressive form into London, having already captured two ATP titles this season in Dallas and Munich, pushing his career total to five ATP crowns. His explosive left-handed game and powerful serve have made him one of the standout performers on the ATP Tour in 2026.
At past Laver Cup tournaments, Shelton has posted a 6–2 match record, including a pivotal role in Team World’s victory over Europe at the 2023 Laver Cup in Vancouver — where he went unbeaten. He missed the 2025 edition due to injury, making this return even more anticipated.
Quotes from the Camp
“It’s always an honor to be part of Team World,” Shelton said upon confirming his participation. “Getting the chance to spend a week with legends like Andre [Agassi] and Pat [Rafter], learning from them and competing alongside this group, is something I really value and you don’t get anywhere else. I’ve got some great memories from Laver Cup already and I’m excited to get back out there in London with the guys.”
Team World Captain Andre Agassi welcomed his inclusion, adding: “Pat and I couldn’t be happier that Ben is joining the team. He is a dynamic talent that will help us in singles, doubles, as well as with his infectious energy in the locker room and from the bench.”
Looking Ahead to London
The 2026 Laver Cup marks the ninth edition of the event, returning to London’s iconic O2 Arena — the same venue that hosted the emotional 2022 Laver Cup. Team World, champions in three of the last four editions, will aim to retain their title against a formidable European lineup.
