With the 2026 Formula 1 season just weeks away, all 11 teams have confirmed their bosses for the year ahead. According to Formula 1’s official data, the upcoming season will feature 24 races, making leadership more important than ever. From experienced champions to new faces, these team principals will guide their teams through a brand-new era of rules and technology.

Andrea Stella (McLaren): “We are building something special”
Andrea Stella became McLaren’s Team Principal in December 2022. As per McLaren team records, he joined Formula 1 back in 2000 with Ferrari. He worked closely with legends like Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso.

Under Stella’s leadership, McLaren won back-to-back Constructors’ Championships in 2024 and 2025. The team also lifted the Drivers’ title in 2025 with Lando Norris.

“We are building something special here,” Stella once said after their 2025 title win, as quoted by F1 media.

Toto Wolff (Mercedes): “Our goal is to come back stronger”
Toto Wolff has been leading Mercedes since 2013, making him the longest-serving boss on the grid. Team statistics show Mercedes won seven straight Drivers’ Championships from 2014 to 2020.

After finishing second in 2025, Wolff said:

“Our goal is simple – come back stronger and fight for the title,” Wolff told Mercedes’ official channel.

Laurent Mekies (Red Bull): “Change brings opportunity”
Red Bull entered a new era in 2025 when Laurent Mekies replaced Christian Horner. Mekies has worked with Minardi, Toro Rosso, Ferrari and the FIA.

Speaking to team media, Mekies said:

“Change always brings opportunity. We showed last season we can bounce back.”

Fred Vasseur (Ferrari): “Ferrari means responsibility”
Fred Vasseur took charge of Ferrari in 2023. Before F1, he ran a junior team called ART Grand Prix. One of his biggest moves was signing Lewis Hamilton for 2025, a deal confirmed by Ferrari officials.

“Ferrari means responsibility and passion,” Vasseur told Italian media.

James Vowles (Williams): “We are rebuilding step by step”
James Vowles joined Williams in 2023. According to team data, Williams finished fifth in the 2025 Constructors’ Championship, their best result in years.

“We are rebuilding step by step,” Vowles said in a team interview.

Adrian Newey (Aston Martin): “This is a new challenge”
Legendary car designer Adrian Newey joined Aston Martin in 2025. In 2026, he will become Team Principal for the first time.

“This is a new challenge for me,” Newey said after his appointment, according to Aston Martin.

Ayao Komatsu (Haas): “Progress matters”
Komatsu took over Haas in 2024. Team figures show Haas climbed to 7th place in the standings.

“Progress matters more than quick results,” Komatsu said.

Jonathan Wheatley (Audi): “We are starting a new chapter”
Former Red Bull Sporting Director Jonathan Wheatley now leads Audi, who are entering F1 in 2026.

“We are starting a new chapter in motorsport,” Wheatley told Audi media.

Alpine leadership: Briatore and Nielsen
Flavio Briatore returned to F1 with Alpine in 2024. Steve Nielsen manages daily operations.

“Experience is key in Formula 1,” Briatore said.

Graeme Lowdon (Cadillac): “Proud to lead a new team”
Cadillac will make their F1 debut in 2026. Graeme Lowdon, who earlier launched Virgin Racing in 2010, is their boss.

“Proud to lead a brand-new team into Formula 1,” Lowdon said, according to Cadillac.

Final Word

With rule changes coming in 2026, leadership will play a huge role. As Formula 1 data shows, experienced bosses like Wolff and Stella will face fresh challenges from new leaders like Newey and Lowdon. Fans can expect an exciting season both on and off the track.
