Wolverhampton, UK — Wolves’ head coach Rob Edwards has issued a stark warning that there could be “more pain to come” for the struggling Premier League side — with the season turning into a battle as much of the mind as the league table.

Edwards, just one month into his tenure, spoke candidly before his side’s tough trip to Arsenal, acknowledging that results remain the biggest challenge — and that the club’s situation remains “difficult” despite hard work on and off the training ground.

The Wolves squad has been hit by more setbacks, with midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde sidelined for at least six weeks with a hamstring injury — a blow that leaves Edwards short of key creative options as they try to find their first win of the season.

Looking ahead to January, Edwards hinted that fresh faces could be needed if Wolves are to stay competitive, but stressed that any window business will depend on results and where the club stands come New Year.

The head coach also understood fans’ frustration, following a protest at Molineux where supporters boycotted the opening 15 minutes of the recent home match against Manchester United. He said he gets why fans are upset given the long wait for a win — and that the journey back to competitiveness won’t be straightforward.

Wolves sit at the bottom of the Premier League with just two points from 15 games, a position that has seen critics question summer transfer decisions and look nervously towards a potential relegation battle.

Despite the grim scoreboard, Edwards insists he’s “energised” to improve things — even if the road ahead could involve “more pain” before any joy.
