Bhubaneswar: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has announced a series of cash rewards for Indian medalists who brought glory to the nation at the recently concluded Asian Youth Games 2025. The incentive program is designed to recognize and encourage the country’s next generation of sporting talent.
IOA President Dr. P.T. Usha said that the reward scheme reflects India’s growing commitment to nurturing young athletes who will go on to represent the nation at senior international events, including the Asian Games and the Olympics.
“These young champions have made the nation proud. Their dedication, discipline, and determination deserve recognition and support. The IOA is committed to ensuring that their achievements are duly rewarded,” said Dr. Usha in her statement.
Under the newly announced scheme, gold medal winners will receive ₹5 lakh, silver medalists ₹3 lakh, and bronze medalists ₹2 lakh each. Coaches of medal-winning athletes will also be rewarded for their contribution to the athletes’ success.
The Asian Youth Games 2025 witnessed India achieving its best-ever medal haul, with standout performances across athletics, swimming, shooting, and boxing. Young talents such as Ananya Verma (athletics) and Ritvik Singh (shooting) emerged as the faces of India’s promising future in sports.
The IOA’s initiative is expected to inspire more participation and competition among youth athletes across the country, strengthening India’s grassroots sports ecosystem.
“We want these young athletes to know that their efforts are valued. This recognition will motivate them to aim higher,” said IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta.
The IOA also hinted at future plans to collaborate with state associations and sports federations to ensure continued support for athletes transitioning from youth to senior levels.
