Bhubaneswar: England’s Tommy Fleetwood produced a spectacular final-round performance to claim the DP World India Championship title at the Delhi Golf Club — and celebrated in the most touching way possible, with a heartfelt hug from his young son, Frankie, on the 18th green.

Fleetwood shot an impressive seven-under-par 65 on Sunday to finish at 22-under, two strokes clear of Japan’s Keita Nakajima, clinching his first victory of the season on the DP World Tour. The win carried special emotional weight for the 33-year-old, who revealed that his son had been his biggest motivation all week.

“My little boy once said, ‘You’ve never won a tournament where I could run onto the 18th green to hug you,’” Fleetwood shared after the win. “I had that written down all week — and today, I finally made it happen.”

That wish came true as Frankie sprinted across the green moments after his father’s final putt dropped, throwing his arms around him in a scene that captured hearts across the golfing world.

Fleetwood’s win came after a commanding stretch of golf that included four straight birdies from holes 7 to 10, which propelled him into the lead. Despite pressure from Nakajima and others in the chasing pack, Fleetwood stayed calm and composed, closing out the round with precise iron play and steady putting.

“This means everything,” he said. “It’s been a long time coming, and to share it with my family makes it even more special. India has given me memories I’ll never forget.”

The victory marks another highlight in Fleetwood’s growing list of achievements on the DP World Tour, and it also reinforces his reputation as one of the most consistent and admired players in modern golf. Beyond the scorecard, though, it was that father-son embrace — the fulfillment of a child’s dream and a father’s promise — that defined the day.

As the crowd cheered and Fleetwood lifted the trophy high under the Delhi sun, the Englishman smiled and summed it up best:

“Winning is great, but sharing that moment with Frankie… that’s everything.”
