The Las Vegas Aces tightened their grip on the 2025 WNBA Finals, defeating the Phoenix Mercury 91-78 in Game 2 at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Paradise, Nevada, on Sunday night.

After a tense, back-and-forth opener, Game 2 saw Las Vegas dominate behind a historic performance from Jackie Young and MVP A’ja Wilson, giving the defending champions a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-seven series.

Jackie Young’s Historic Third Quarter

Jackie Young was simply unstoppable. The 28-year-old guard poured in 21 of her game-high 32 points in the third quarter — the most points ever scored in a single quarter in WNBA Finals history.

Her electric scoring burst helped the Aces break open a tight contest, turning a narrow halftime lead into a commanding advantage they never relinquished.

“I didn’t realize it was that much,” Young said after the game. “I was just trying to play the right way and be aggressive. The rim just felt big tonight.”

A’ja Wilson Dominates Again

Fresh off winning her record-breaking fourth WNBA MVP award, A’ja Wilson delivered another masterclass — 28 points and 14 rebounds — proving once again why she’s the centerpiece of this Las Vegas dynasty.

Together, Wilson and Young combined for 60 points, the second-highest total by a duo in WNBA Finals history, behind only Seattle’s Jewell Loyd and Breanna Stewart (65 points in 2020).

Wilson, full of praise for her teammate, said after the game:

“I don’t know where Jackie was in Game 1, but I’m glad she showed up in Game 2. This is her element — what she lives for. Watching her thrive warms my heart.”

Team Effort Secures the Win

While the spotlight was on Young and Wilson, Chelsea Gray came close to a triple-double with 10 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 blocks, showcasing her all-around brilliance.

For the Mercury, Kahleah Copper led the charge with 23 points, but Phoenix struggled to contain Las Vegas’ offensive firepower in the second half.

Aces Near Championship Glory

The win moves Las Vegas within touching distance of a third WNBA championship in four years, underlining their dominance in the league.

The Finals now head to Phoenix for Game 3 at the Mortgage Matchup Center on Wednesday (8 p.m. ET), where the Mercury will fight to keep their title hopes alive — and the Aces will look to inch closer to dynasty status.
