Amanda Anisimova Triumphs in Beijing, Captures China Open Title After Three-Set Battle

Two-time Grand Slam finalist Amanda Anisimova added another major accolade to her glittering 2025 season, clinching the China Open women’s singles title with a hard-fought 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 victory over Czech youngster Linda Nosková in Beijing on Sunday.

The 24-year-old American, runner-up at both Wimbledon and the US Open earlier this year, produced a composed performance to capture her second WTA 1000 title of the season, becoming just the third American woman to win the China Open — after Serena Williams and Coco Gauff.

A Rollercoaster Final of Power and Persistence

The match began in blistering fashion as Anisimova raced through the first set in just 23 minutes, conceding only 12 points to take it 6-0. Her aggressive groundstrokes and precision left Nosková reeling.

But the 20-year-old Czech, playing her first WTA 1000 final, fought back superbly. Breaking Anisimova’s serve in the opening game of the second set, Nosková capitalized on the American’s 17 unforced errors to level the match at one set all.

In the decider, however, Anisimova regained control. Reducing her errors and rediscovering her rhythm, she broke Nosková twice to lead 4-2. A trademark backhand return winner on match point sealed the contest, sending her crashing to the court in celebration.

Anisimova Reflects on Resilience and Growth

Speaking after the win, Anisimova said she was proud of how she navigated the mental and physical challenges of the past months.

“I feel like I’ve learned a lot about myself — how to push through tough moments and believe I’m stronger than I think,” she said. “Winning this title is really incredible. I’m so happy.”

Her triumph comes after a turbulent stretch marked by Grand Slam heartbreaks and a withdrawal from the Korean Open due to injury. Yet, Anisimova’s resilience shone through, delivering a statement victory to close her season on a high note.

Path to Glory in Beijing

Anisimova’s journey to the title reflected her mental toughness throughout the tournament:

Early rounds: Straight-set wins over Katie Boulter and Zhang Shuai

Quarterfinals: Comebacks from a set down against Karolina Muchová and Jasmine Paolini

Semifinal: Straight-sets win over defending champion Coco Gauff

According to the WTA, Anisimova’s win makes her the first American since Serena Williams (2015) to capture multiple WTA 1000 titles in a single season.

Nosková’s Promising Future

Despite the loss, Nosková — ranked world No. 27 — impressed throughout the tournament with her fearless play and maturity. Reflecting on the match, she said:

“It’s hard to find a plan against someone who hits so fast and consistently. I tried to keep my rhythm and length, and that helped in the second set. But in the third, she was just too good.”

At just 20, Nosková’s performance in Beijing signals the emergence of another powerful contender on the WTA Tour — even as Amanda Anisimova continues to shine as one of the brightest stars in women’s tennis.
