Anahat Singh: India’s Squash Star Breaks Barriers with Historic World Junior Medal

Bhubaneswar: India’s teenage squash sensation Anahat Singh has added another milestone to her young but glittering career, winning a bronze medal at the 2025 World Junior Squash Championships in Cairo. The 17-year-old became the first Indian girl in 15 years to secure a singles medal at the prestigious event, marking a breakthrough moment for Indian squash.

Anahat powered past Egypt’s Malika Elkaraksy in straight games to finally overcome her “quarterfinal hurdle” and storm into the semifinals. Though she fell just short of the final, her bronze remains historic for the country.

Speaking to Elle Magazine, Anahat revealed her calm approach to competition, stressing that she tries not to get weighed down by outside expectations. “I focus on playing well and enjoying the journey,” she said, highlighting the balance between performance and mindset at such a young age.

Her achievement is not just about the medal but about inspiring the next generation of Indian players. By keeping nerves in check and concentrating on growth, Anahat Singh has emerged as a role model in a sport where India has long craved global recognition.
