Sehrawat faced a stern challenge from Han, but maintained control throughout the final despite the North Korean’s attempts to turn the contest around.
The Indian wrestler’s composed performance helped him secure an 11-7 win and add another major title to his growing collection.
Earlier, Sehrawat booked his place in the final with a 14-8 victory over Tajikistan’s Aiaal Belolyubskii in the semifinals.
From Asian Games Bronze To Gold
The victory marked another milestone in Sehrawat’s career. He had previously won bronze in the men’s 57kg category at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
He also made history at the Paris Olympics, becoming India’s youngest Olympic medallist after winning bronze in wrestling.
His latest triumph adds to India’s strong campaign in wrestling at the ongoing Asian Games. Sujeet Kalkal had already claimed gold in the men’s 65kg category on Friday.
