The 39-year-old Serbian defeated Canada’s Félix Auger-Aliassime in a five-hour, 15-minute Centre Court epic, producing another remarkable performance that defied both age and physical limitations. His victory kept alive hopes of a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title and reinforced his reputation as one of the sport’s greatest fighters.

Djokovic Overcomes Injury To Deliver Another Wimbledon Masterclass

Djokovic’s latest triumph became even more impressive after he appeared to suffer a left calf problem during the opening set. The Serbian required a medical timeout after an awkward movement but refused to let the setback derail his campaign.

Despite visible discomfort early in the match, Djokovic gradually rediscovered his rhythm, covering every corner of the court with trademark athleticism while continuing to strike powerful groundstrokes and booming serves.

Former Great Britain Davis Cup captain Leon Smith described the performance as “not normal”, praising Djokovic’s extraordinary physical conditioning and ability to compete with opponents more than a decade younger.

Former British No. 1 Tim Henman also hailed Djokovic’s resilience, saying the Serbian continues to produce his best tennis when the pressure is at its highest.

Wimbledon Semi-Final Beckons After Five-Hour Epic

The victory highlighted Djokovic’s remarkable longevity at the highest level. At 39, he remains the only active member of the legendary “Big Three” after the retirements of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, while continuing to challenge the sport’s new generation led by Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Djokovic admitted after the match that he is still surprised by his ability to compete with players nearly 15 years younger but insisted he continues to expect the highest standards from himself.

His reward is a blockbuster Wimbledon semi-final against world No. 1 Sinner. However, questions remain over how much the physically demanding quarter-final and his calf concern could affect him against the Italian, who has enjoyed a smoother route through the tournament.

Regardless of what lies ahead, Djokovic’s latest victory added another memorable chapter to an extraordinary career built on resilience, determination and an unmatched ability to rise to the occasion when it matters most.
