Bhawna Wins Recurve Gold as Sheetal Devi Completes Three-Medal Haul at World Para Archery Series

India’s para archers continued their impressive run on the international stage as Bhawna clinched a dramatic gold medal in the women’s recurve event, while reigning world champion Sheetal Devi capped a memorable campaign with three medals at the World Para Archery Series in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.

Bhawna showcased remarkable resilience in an all-Indian women’s recurve final against Pooja, fighting back from a 0-4 deficit to claim a thrilling 6-5 (9-8) victory in a shoot-off.

After losing the opening two sets, Bhawna gradually clawed her way back into the contest, forcing the match into a one-arrow decider before holding her nerve to secure the gold medal.

Sheetal Adds Three More Medals

Sheetal Devi once again demonstrated why she is among the world’s finest para archers by returning home with an individual silver, a compound mixed team gold and a women’s team bronze.

The 19-year-old narrowly missed out on the individual compound title, going down 141-143 to Great Britain’s Jodie Grinham in a closely fought final.

Earlier, Sheetal teamed up with Shyam Sundar Swami to capture the compound mixed team gold, defeating Indonesia 147-143 after overturning a one-point halftime deficit.

She also partnered Payal Nag to earn bronze in the women’s compound team event with a dramatic 140-139 victory over Slovakia.

Harvinder Singh Takes Silver

Paris Paralympic champion Harvinder Singh added another medal to India’s tally by winning silver in the men’s recurve category.

Harvinder was edged 6-4 by Italy’s Stefano Travisani in a tightly contested final after the match remained evenly balanced for much of the contest.

More Medals for India

India’s medal haul grew further with Toman Kumar and Shyam Sundar Swami claiming bronze in the men’s compound team event after defeating France 150-148.

Toman narrowly missed adding an individual medal, finishing fourth after losing the bronze-medal match to Great Britain’s Nathan MacQueen.

The latest performances underline India’s growing strength in para archery, with multiple podium finishes across recurve and compound disciplines reinforcing the country’s status as one of the sport’s emerging powerhouses.
