Indian archery is gearing up for another major showcase as Hyderabad has been confirmed as the host city for the second edition of the Archery Premier League (APL), scheduled to take place from October 8 to 18, 2026. Following a successful inaugural season, the league will once again bring together some of the finest Indian and international archers in a unique franchise-based format.

The 11-day competition will be held at People’s Plaza on Hyderabad’s iconic Necklace Road and will feature six franchises that competed in the first season. Defending champion Rajputana Royals will return alongside Mighty Marathas, Prithviraaj Yodhas, Kakatiya Knights, Chero Archers, and Chola Chiefs.

A total of 48 archers from India and abroad are expected to participate across recurve and compound categories. Each franchise will field an eight-member squad, creating a blend of experienced stars and emerging talent. The league follows a double round-robin format, with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals before the championship match on October 18.

One of the league’s standout features is its fast-paced format. Archers compete under a 15-second shot clock, significantly shorter than the standard time allowed in Olympic and World Archery events. The rule is designed to test decision-making, composure, and accuracy under pressure, making the competition more engaging for spectators.

The Archery Association of India launched the league in 2025 with the broader objective of strengthening India’s archery ecosystem and providing athletes with regular high-level competition. Officials believe the exposure to international-standard competition will help Indian archers prepare better for major global events, including the Olympic Games.

While player drafts, team squads, fixtures, and broadcast details are yet to be announced, the confirmation of Hyderabad as the host city marks another significant step in the league’s growth. With archery steadily gaining popularity in India, the second season promises higher competition, greater fan engagement, and another opportunity for Indian archers to showcase their talent on a professional stage.
