Priya Ghanghas: India’s New Boxing Hope Rising Through the Ranks

Indian boxing continues to produce exciting young talents, and Priya Ghanghas is quickly proving why she could be the next big name to watch. The Haryana boxer has caught attention with her composed performances at the Asian Boxing Championships, where she showcased both aggression and maturity against experienced international opponents.

Competing in the women’s 60kg category, Priya delivered one of her standout performances against China’s Yang Chengyu, a World Championships bronze medallist. Her ability to stay calm under pressure and counter with precision reflected the confidence of a boxer ready for bigger stages.

Known for her sharp footwork and attacking style, Priya has steadily climbed through India’s competitive boxing structure. Coaches within the national circuit have praised her discipline, ring awareness, and fearless mentality — qualities often seen in elite-level fighters.

India’s women’s boxing programme has already produced champions like Nikhat Zareen and Nitu Ghanghas, and Priya now appears to be part of the country’s next generation of medal contenders. Her recent performances have strengthened India’s hopes for upcoming international tournaments, including the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.

What makes Priya’s rise more impressive is the consistency she has shown at a young age. Coming from Haryana’s strong boxing culture, she has embraced the pressure of expectations while continuing to improve with every tournament.

With Indian boxing searching for its next global star, Priya Ghanghas is building her reputation one bout at a time. If her current progress continues, the young boxer could soon become a major force on the international circuit.

Key Highlights:

Competed in women’s 60kg category

Defeated strong international opponents at Asian level

Emerging prospect for future Asian Games and Commonwealth Games

Praised for aggressive yet controlled boxing style
