Shericka Jackson delivered a stunning performance at the Diamond League meeting in Xiamen after smashing the women’s 200m meeting record.
The two-time world champion clocked 21.87 seconds to comfortably secure victory and finish just 0.01 seconds shy of the world-leading time this season.
Jackson exploded out of the blocks and quickly established control of the race before powering away from the field on the bend to complete a dominant win.
The Jamaican sprinter had already impressed by winning the Shanghai/Keqiao Diamond League meeting last week and continued her strong start to the season in China.
Sha’Carri Richardson Finishes Fourth In Xiamen
Sha’Carri Richardson, the reigning 100m world champion, recorded a season’s best time of 22.38 seconds but could only finish fourth.
Shaunae Miller-Uibo claimed second place in 22.04 seconds, while Anavia Battle secured third with a season-best 22.29 seconds.
Great Britain’s Amy Hunt finished seventh in the nine-athlete field.
Yan Ziyi Breaks Multiple Records In Women’s Javelin
The Xiamen Diamond League also witnessed a sensational performance from Chinese teenager Yan Ziyi in the women’s javelin event.
Just one day after turning 18, Yan produced a remarkable throw of 71.74 metres to move into second place on the all-time women’s javelin list.
Her throw broke the Diamond League record, Asian record and world under-20 record in a memorable performance on home soil.
Yan had already set the world junior record at the age of 17 and continues to establish herself as one of athletics’ brightest young stars.
Alison Dos Santos Beats Karsten Warholm In 400m Hurdles Thriller
The men’s 400m hurdles produced another major highlight as Alison dos Santos defeated world record holder Karsten Warholm in a thrilling contest.
The pair separated themselves from the field early in the race before Dos Santos edged ahead to win in 46.72 seconds.
Warholm finished just 0.10 seconds behind in second place as the two Olympic medallists once again produced one of the standout races of the Diamond League season.
