A biopic based on the life of Indian para cricketer Amir Hussain Lone was officially announced at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
The film will chronicle the inspiring journey of Lone, who rose to prominence as captain of the Jammu and Kashmir para cricket team despite facing major physical challenges.
The project will be directed by Nishil Sheth, known for his critically acclaimed debut feature Bhasmasur.
According to the makers, the film aims to celebrate “the spirit of perseverance, courage and the transformative power of sport” through Lone’s remarkable story.
Amir Hussain Lone reacts to biopic announcement
Reacting to the announcement, Amir Hussain Lone said he never imagined his life story would one day reach the big screen.
He added that if his journey inspires even one person to continue fighting despite hardships, he would feel grateful. Lone described the film as a story representing every individual who refuses to give up in difficult circumstances.

Director Nishil Sheth said the film goes beyond cricket and disability, focusing instead on the strength of the human spirit.
He explained that Lone’s refusal to be defined by limitations deeply moved him and said the film would present an emotional journey centred on courage, dignity and perseverance.
Production team behind the film
The biopic is being produced by Manjusha Paithankar and Sachin Paithankar under the banner Aarambh Productions.
The project also includes producers Sameer Dixit and Rishikesh Bhirangi from Pickle Entertainment.
M. S. Khan of MRFS Investment Dubai-U.A.E will serve as co-producer, while Yogesh Karikurve has joined the project as creative producer.
