India is set to become the global hub of armwrestling as Delhi prepares to host the prestigious World Armwrestling & Para Armwrestling Championships 2026 from October 26 to November 7. The mega sporting event is expected to attract top athletes from across the world and further strengthen India’s growing presence in international armwrestling.
The championship will be organised under the aegis of the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) in collaboration with the People’s ArmWrestling Federation India (PAFI). Officials from WAF had earlier conducted inspection visits in India and expressed confidence in the country’s infrastructure and organisational readiness to host the global tournament.
The event will feature both armwrestling and para armwrestling competitions, highlighting inclusivity and providing a major platform for differently-abled athletes to compete on the world stage. Discussions during the inspection visits also focused heavily on the development of para armwrestling in India.
PAFI President Preeti Jhangiani and Pro Panja League co-founder Parvinn Dabass have played key roles in bringing the championship to India. WAF officials praised India’s successful hosting of previous continental events and stated that the country possesses the capability to deliver a world-class championship.
The tournament is expected to provide a major boost to armwrestling’s popularity in India while offering Indian athletes the opportunity to compete against elite global talent on home soil.
