Indian squash stars Velavan Senthilkumar and Joshna Chinappa produced a dominant display at the 3rd National Doubles Squash Championships, winning two titles each at the Indian Squash Academy in Chennai.
The top-seeded duo captured the mixed doubles crown after defeating second-seeded pair Abhay Singh and Rathika Seelan 11-7, 11-9 in a closely fought final.
Earlier in the tournament, Velavan partnered with Abhay Singh to secure the men’s doubles title for a third consecutive year. The pair defeated Rahul Baitha and Suraj Kumar Chand 11-8, 11-5 in the final.
Joshna Chinappa also enjoyed success in the women’s doubles category alongside Rathika Seelan. The top-seeded pair outclassed Janet Vidhi and Pooja Arthi 11-8, 11-4 to clinch the championship comfortably.
The tournament highlighted the growing strength of doubles squash in India, with several top-ranked national players competing across categories.
Velavan Senthilkumar continued his impressive run in Indian squash following a highly successful 2025 season, where he won major international titles and helped India shine at the Asian Doubles Squash Championships.
Joshna Chinappa, one of India’s most decorated squash players, once again showcased her experience and consistency on the national stage. The former world top-10 player remains a major figure in Indian squash despite competing against a younger generation of players.
The championships also featured several emerging Indian squash talents, underlining the country’s growing depth in doubles competition ahead of future Asian and Commonwealth events.
With their latest victories, both Velavan and Joshna further strengthened their reputations as two of India’s leading doubles squash players.
