India’s Ajith Narayana continued his impressive run of form by clinching two bronze medals at the ongoing Asian Weightlifting Championships 2026 here in Gujarat.
Competing in the men’s 71kg category, Ajith showed great composure and strength on the big stage, securing bronze in the snatch and another in the total lift. His performance has been one of the highlights for the host nation so far in the championships, which is being held in India after a gap of 44 years.
Ajith, who has been steadily rising through the ranks with consistent domestic success and national records in recent years, once again proved why he is considered one of India’s most promising male weightlifters. His lifts not only earned him podium finishes but also boosted the confidence of the Indian contingent competing at home.
The championships have already seen strong showings from other Indian lifters like Komal Kohar and Gyaneshwari Yadav, who also picked up bronze medals in their respective categories. Ajith’s success adds to the growing momentum as India aims for a solid medal haul on home turf.
With the event still underway, weightlifting fans are hopeful that more Indian lifters will step up and deliver memorable performances in the coming days.
