Ashish Limaye Creates History With Qualification for World Games and Asian Games

Indian equestrian rider Ashish Limaye scripted history after securing qualification spots for both the World Games and the Asian Games during a prestigious international event in Sopot, Poland.

Competing against elite riders from across the world, Limaye produced impressive performances in both the Concours Complet International (CCI) 3S and CCI 4L eventing categories, marking a major milestone for Indian equestrian sport.

The achievement further strengthens India’s growing presence in global equestrian competitions and highlights the rapid development of the sport in the country.

Strong Performances in Poland Seal Qualification

Riding D’Avril du Pinier in the CCI 4L category, Limaye finished fourth among 11 participants, earning qualification for the World Games. He followed it up with another fourth-place finish aboard Willy Be Dun in the CCI 3S category, which featured 44 competitors, to secure qualification for the Asian Games.

His consistency across both categories stood out against a highly competitive international field in Poland.

The results marked one of the most significant achievements by an Indian rider in international eventing competitions in recent years.

Historic First for India

With this qualification, Limaye became the first Indian rider to qualify for the Asian Games in this particular eventing category, creating a historic moment for Indian equestrian sport.

The 32-year-old rider has steadily emerged as one of India’s leading equestrian athletes over the last few years. His recent rise included winning a historic gold medal in Eventing at the 2025 FEI Asian Equestrian Championships in Thailand — another first for India in the discipline.

Limaye’s performances have increasingly positioned him among Asia’s top eventing riders.

Backed by Embassy International Riding School

Limaye credited much of his progress to the support system around him, including the Embassy International Riding School (EIRS), which has played a key role in developing international-level equestrian talent in India.

Speaking after the achievement, the Indian rider described representing the country on the international stage and qualifying for two major multi-sport events as an “incredibly proud moment.”

Officials from EIRS also hailed the feat as a landmark achievement for Indian equestrian sport and praised Limaye’s discipline, consistency, and commitment to the sport.

Indian Equestrian Sport Continues to Rise

India has gradually built a stronger reputation in international equestrian competitions over the past decade, with riders increasingly competing and succeeding against established global athletes.

Limaye’s latest achievement is expected to inspire a new generation of Indian riders while also drawing greater attention to eventing — one of the sport’s most demanding disciplines that combines dressage, cross-country, and show jumping.

His qualification for both the World Games and Asian Games now places him among the country’s leading medal hopes in equestrian sport heading into the next international cycle.
