The Women’s Hockey India League 2025-26 continues to heat up as SG Pipers face Shrachi Bengal Tigers Thursday at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Stadium in Ranchi. Both sides are looking to strengthen their positions in the league standings ahead of the final.
After two matches, SG Pipers lead the table with six points, having won both their games. Their latest triumph came on December 31, when captain Navneet Kaur scored an early goal to secure a 1-0 win over JSW Soorma Hockey Club.
Shrachi Bengal Tigers, meanwhile, sit in third place with three points, following one win and one loss. They are eager to recover from a heavy 0-5 defeat to Ranchi Royals on December 30, which saw goals from Lucina von der Heyde (33’, 57’), Hannah Cotter (10’), Beauty Dungdung (14’), and Sangita Kumari (44’).
The Women’s HIL 2025-26 features four teams — SG Pipers, JSW Soorma Hockey Club, Shrachi Bengal Tigers, and Ranchi Royals — and is being played in a double round-robin format across 13 matches.
The top two teams after the league stage will meet in the final on January 10. Notably, Ranchi Royals replaced last season’s champions, Odisha Warriors, who withdrew from this edition.
The revamped Hockey India League also includes a men’s tournament, which began on January 3 and will continue until January 26, featuring India’s top men’s hockey teams competing for the coveted HIL title.
Today’s clash promises to be a thrilling encounter, as SG Pipers aim to maintain their unbeaten streak while Shrachi Bengal Tigers seek redemption and crucial points to climb the table. Fans can expect a match filled with intensity, tactical battles, and decisive moments.
