The Karnataka Olympic Association (KOA) on Sunday honoured several outstanding sportspersons from the state, including emerging badminton talent Ayush Shetty, experienced tennis professional SD Prajwal Dev, and golfer Pranavi Urs, at its annual awards function in Bengaluru.
Ayush Shetty’s breakthrough year
At just 20 years of age, Ayush Shetty was recognised for a landmark achievement in international badminton. He clinched the US Open Super 300 title in June, ending India’s long wait for a men’s singles title on the BWF World Tour. Shetty produced a straight-game victory over Brian Yang of Canada, winning the final 21-18, 21-13.
Prajwal Dev’s national contribution
Seasoned tennis player SD Prajwal Dev was also felicitated for his continued service to Indian tennis. The Karnataka player was part of India’s Davis Cup squad in 2024, underlining his role at the highest level of the sport.
Recognition across disciplines
The ceremony celebrated athletes from multiple disciplines, reflecting Karnataka’s growing footprint in Indian sport. The KOA awards aim to acknowledge excellence, consistency and international representation by sportspersons from the state.
