After smashing 135 in the 1st ODI of the three-match series against South Africa in Ranchi, Indian talisman Virat Kohli hit a 2nd successive hundred in the 2nd ODI. The match held at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur, saw Kohli score 102 runs from 93 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. Kohli was part of a 195-run stand for the 3rd wicket alongside fellow centurion Ruturaj Gaikwad (105). Their blitz in addition to KL Rahul’s unbeaten fifty helped India get to 358/5 in 50 overs. However, it proved to be insufficient as South Africa chased down 359 runs with 4 wickets in hand and 4 balls to spare.
With the series tied at 1-1, the focus will now shift to Vizag and the winner will take the series.

Kohli and Gaikwad’s 195-run stand is now the highest partnership for India against the Proteas in ODIs. The pair went past the 194-run stand between Tendulkar and Dinesh Karthik in 2010 in Gwalior.
