NEW YORK — In an unprecedented move, boxing legends Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have reportedly reached an agreement for a potential exhibition fight in the spring of 2026. The stunning announcement was made by promoter CSI Sports on Thursday, sending shockwaves through the sports world. No specific date or location has been provided, but the bout is being billed as a once-in-a-lifetime clash of generations.

A Clash of Eras

The exhibition will pit two of the most iconic fighters in history against each other. Mike Tyson, at 59, boasts a professional record of 50 wins and 7 losses, with an incredible 44 knockouts. His last outing was a lopsided exhibition loss to YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul last November in Arlington, Texas, a bout he struggled to find his rhythm in.

On the other side of the ring is the undefeated Floyd Mayweather, 48, who retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an impeccable 50-0 record and world titles in five weight classes. While officially retired from professional competition, Mayweather has remained active on the exhibition circuit, with his most recent appearance being a victory over John Gotti III in Mexico in August 2024.

The Unpredictable Era of Boxing

The sheer improbability of the matchup was not lost on the fighters themselves. In a statement released by CSI Sports, Tyson acknowledged his surprise that the fight was happening at all.

“When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather I thought, ‘No way this happens,'” Tyson said. “But Floyd said yes. This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable, and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets.”
