Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 3rd Test Day 2: India Trail By 242 Runs, Loses Three Early Wickets

London: The 3rd Test between England and India at Lord’s Cricket Ground, London continues with gripping action. In the 2nd innings, India is currently batting at 145/3 in 43.0 overs. At the crease, Rishabh Pant is unbeaten on 19 (off 33 balls). KL Rahul is on 53 (off 113 balls). India is trailing by by 242 runs at the end of the second day.

Joe Root scored a brilliant 104, his 37th Test century, and even broke Rahul Dravid’s record for most Test catches (211) . Despite a strong counter by Jamie Smith (51) and Brydon Carse (56), India managed to bowl England out for 387—thanks largely to Jasprit Bumrah’s 5-wicket haul, his first at Lord’s .

Jofra Archer returns with a bang—dismisses Jaiswal. Archer, making a Test comeback after four years, struck early by removing Yashasvi Jaiswal in his third delivery .

What to watch for on Day Three?

India need a major partnership: Rahul and Pant will look to reduce the deficit and bring key batters back into play.

Bumrah and pace battery’s new strategy: Can they make early inroads to challenge England’s lead?

Archers impact as Test returns: His pace could energize the English push.

Over-rate scrutiny continues: Slow progress has drawn official attention; both teams aim to speed things up.

Summary Table: Team State at Stumps Day 2

England All out 387 (Root 104, Bumrah 5‑wicket)
India 145/3, trailing by 242 (Rahul 53*, Pant 19*)
