Mohun Bagan Ready for Durand Cup 2025: Mariners Begin Campaign with Derby Clash

Kolkata :  Mohun Bagan Super Giant are all set to launch their 2025 Durand Cup campaign with a blockbuster Kolkata Derby against arch-rivals Emami East Bengal on July 28 at the iconic Salt Lake Stadium. The Mariners, placed in Group A, will play all their group matches in West Bengal and Assam as they aim to reclaim the prestigious title.

The 133rd edition of Asia’s oldest football tournament kicks off on July 23, with Mohun Bagan entering as one of the favourites following a solid domestic season.

Mohun Bagan’s Durand Cup 2025 Group Stage Fixtures:

July 28: vs Emami East Bengal – Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata – 6:00 PM IST

August 1: vs Downtown Heroes FC – Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata – 6:00 PM IST

August 7: vs Bangladesh Army FT – SAI Stadium, Kokrajhar – 3:00 PM IST

August 12: vs Rajasthan United FC – SAI Stadium, Kokrajhar – 3:00 PM IST

Diverse Challenge Across Venues

After beginning their campaign at home in front of their passionate supporters, Mohun Bagan will travel to Kokrajhar for their remaining group matches. The switch in location will test their adaptability, with SAI Stadium expected to host some tough fixtures in humid conditions.

Aiming for Glory

Having won the Durand Cup most recently in 2023, the Mariners are determined to bounce back after missing out in 2024. With a strong squad led by key Indian internationals and a tactically astute coaching team, expectations are sky-high.

Qualification for the knockout stage will depend on finishing among the top teams across six groups. A top-two finish in their group or among the best runners-up will ensure a quarterfinal berth.

As the countdown begins, all eyes are on Mohun Bagan’s opener—a clash that promises fireworks both on and off the pitch.
