Lonato, Italy – India’s Ganemat Sekhon had an impressive start to the Shotgun World Cup in Lonato, Italy, on Sunday. She scored 48 out of a possible 50 in the skeet event on the opening day.
Women’s Skeet Performance
Sekhon’s rounds of 23 and 25 placed her in ninth position among 98 shooters. Her score was the second-best in the women’s event, with six competitors currently sharing the lead with 49 points. Other Indian participants, Maheshwari Chauhan (46) and Raiza Dhillon (45), are placed 42nd and 49th respectively.
Men’s Skeet Update
In the more competitive men’s skeet event, which features 176 shooters, Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan shot rounds of 24 and 25. World University champion Bhavtegh Singh Gill also scored 23 and 25. Asian Games silver medalist Anantjeet Singh Naruka had a first-round score of 24.
The third and fourth rounds for both men’s and women’s skeet are scheduled for Monday, July 7, with the final round and top-six finals to follow on Tuesday.
