In a spirited celebration of health, unity, and sportsmanship, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma led the Olympic Day Run 2025 in Aizawl on Sunday, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic participants from all walks of life. The event, held as part of the global Olympic Day celebrations, highlighted the importance of physical fitness and reinforced Mizoram’s growing commitment to a sporting culture.
Organised by the Mizoram State Olympic Association (MSOA), the run started from Vanapa Hall and coursed through the heart of the capital city, resonating with cheers and slogans promoting the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.Chief Minister Lalduhoma, who flagged off the run and participated in it, addressed the gathering with a strong message on the importance of incorporating fitness into daily life. “Olympic Day is not just for athletes; it is for everyone who believes in staying fit and pushing boundaries,” he said. “Mizoram has always shown promise in sports, and we must continue encouraging our youth to take up sporting disciplines and live active lives.”The CM also praised the efforts of local athletes who have brought national and international recognition to the state, particularly in football, hockey, athletics, and boxing. “Our youth have the potential to represent India on the global stage,” he noted, adding that the government would continue investing in infrastructure and training to support budding talent.Among the participants were school children, professional athletes, government officials, and senior citizens, all donning Olympic Day T-shirts. The inclusive turnout reflected the unifying power of sports and echoed the global Olympic Movement’s theme: “Let’s Move.”
MSOA officials thanked the public for their overwhelming support and stated that such events are crucial in nurturing a healthy and goal-oriented society. “Mizoram’s future in sports looks bright, and initiatives like these are steps in the right direction,” an official said.As Olympic Day 2025 was celebrated across India and the world, the event in Aizawl stood out for its energy, community spirit, and clear message—fitness is for all, and the Olympic dream begins witha single step.
