Kisik Lee Set to Lead Indian Archery — A Shot at Olympic Redemption

Korean legend Kisik Lee is on track to become India’s head archery coach, bringing decades of Olympic success and a no-nonsense winning mentality to a nation still chasing its first archery medal.

What Makes Kisik Lee a Game-Changer?

He transformed the USA archery team into a global powerhouse, leading them to over 300 World Cup medals and three Olympic podiums.

Known for his intense focus on mental strength, biomechanics, and precision training, he’s considered one of the finest minds in the sport.

His appointment signals India’s desire to move beyond potential and aim for the podium—especially with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics on the horizon.

What’s the Plan?

Lee is likely to sign a three-year contract with the Archery Association of India (AAI), pending approval from the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

The focus will be on creating an elite-level training system, rooted in global best practices but tailored to Indian athletes.

He’s expected to start working with both senior archers and junior talent, building a full Olympic pipeline.

Why This Is a Big Deal

India has reached multiple Olympic finals in archery but never stood on the podium.

Lee’s methods are rigorous and structured—he believes in total discipline, science-based coaching, and mental conditioning, areas where India has historically fallen short.

His arrival could finally bridge the gap between talent and medals.

What Comes Next?

June 2025: His proposal goes to SAI for formal approval.

If cleared, Lee will join the Indian team ahead of the next international season, possibly in time for the 2025 World Archery Championships.

All eyes will be on India’s performance at the Paris 2026 World Cup Finals as an early test of his influence.

The Bigger Picture

With Kisik Lee at the helm, Indian archery could finally have the blueprint to succeed at the Olympic level. This is more than just a coaching appointment—it’s a declaration of intent.
