Bhubaneswar : India’s Sahil Silwal finished in eighth place in the men’s javelin throw event at the 2025 World University Games held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany. Silwal, a promising left-handed thrower, delivered a best mark of 73.76 meters in the final, which was below his season best and personal record. Despite aiming for a stronger performance, he was unable to match his career-best of 81.81 meters and season best of 77.84 meters during the event.
Silwal’s effort saw him advance through the qualifying rounds, but the final proved challenging as he could not replicate his top form. His result reflected a modest finish in a highly competitive field featuring the world’s top university athletes. Nevertheless, his achievement of reaching the final underscores his standing as a leading Indian javelin talent and adds valuable experience ahead of future international meets.
