BCCI Shifted IPL 2026 Final From Bengaluru Due to Massive Ticket Demand: Devajit Saikia

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shifted the IPL 2026 final from Bengaluru due to concerns surrounding excessive ticket demand and crowd management, according to board secretary Devajit Saikia.

The IPL final was originally expected to be hosted in Bengaluru, but the BCCI later decided to move the title clash to Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Speaking on the decision, Saikia explained that unprecedented demand for tickets and logistical considerations played a major role in the venue switch. Officials reportedly feared that Bengaluru’s infrastructure would struggle to handle the expected rush of spectators for the blockbuster final.

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad remains the largest cricket stadium in the world, with a seating capacity exceeding 130,000, making it a more suitable option for hosting the high-profile final.

The decision sparked debate among fans, especially in Bengaluru, where supporters expressed disappointment over losing hosting rights for the season finale.

However, BCCI officials defended the move, saying fan safety, crowd control, and ticket allocation efficiency were top priorities.

Ahmedabad has increasingly become a preferred venue for marquee cricket events in recent years, including ICC tournament matches and IPL finals.

The IPL 2026 playoffs and final are expected to attract record attendances and massive global television audiences once again.
