LeBron James Sets NBA Games Record as Lakers Edge Magic on Last-Second Triple

ORLANDO — LeBron James etched another milestone into his legendary career, breaking the NBA record for most regular-season games played, as the Los Angeles Lakers rallied for a dramatic 105-104 win over the Orlando Magic on Saturday night.

James appeared in his 1,612th regular-season contest, surpassing the long-standing mark held by Robert Parish for nearly three decades. The milestone came on a night that ended in thrilling fashion, with Luke Kennard drilling a go-ahead three-pointer with just 0.6 seconds remaining to seal the comeback victory.

The Lakers extended their winning streak to nine games, powered by a 33-point performance from Luka Dončić. However, the star guard’s night ended on a sour note after he picked up his 16th technical foul, which carries an automatic one-game suspension pending league review.

James finished his record-breaking outing with 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. The 41-year-old forward also delivered a key stretch midway through the third quarter, scoring six consecutive points to help Los Angeles build momentum.

For Orlando, Paolo Banchero led the charge with 16 points as seven Magic players scored in double figures. Banchero nearly delivered a crucial defensive stop in the closing seconds, blocking James with 4.7 seconds left. After a replay review confirmed the ball stayed in Lakers possession, Marcus Smart inbounded to Kennard for the decisive shot.

Austin Reaves added 26 points for Los Angeles, which overcame a five-point deficit in the final minute. The Magic, meanwhile, dropped their fourth straight game despite the balanced scoring effort.

James’ record-breaking appearance added yet another chapter to his remarkable longevity, while Kennard’s clutch heroics ensured the historic night ended in celebration for the Lakers.
