Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi : India have stormed into a commanding position against Namibia in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Group A match, thanks to a blistering knock from Ishan Kishan, who smashed 61 off just 24 balls before being dismissed in a high-octane innings that lit up the Delhi crowd .

Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and opted to bowl, hoping to exploit early movement. However, the plan quickly unraveled as Kishan unleashed a fearless assault, bringing up his half-century in just 20 balls, one of the fastest fifties ever by an Indian in T20 World Cup history. His innings featured a mix of power-hitting and inventive strokeplay, putting immediate pressure on Namibia’s bowling attack .

At the time of reporting, India are 104/2 in 7.1 overs, with Tilak Varma holding firm in the middle as the scoring rate continues to soar. India earlier crossed the 100-run mark at a record pace, underlining their aggressive intent and depth in batting .

Current Score Update:

India: 104/2 (7.1 overs)

Key contributions:

Ishan Kishan: 61 (24 balls)

Tilak Varma: 20 (11 balls)

Kishan’s innings has already sparked widespread praise, with cricket analysts calling it one of the most destructive opening knocks by an Indian wicketkeeper in T20 World Cup history. One commentator described his knock as “an exhibition of modern T20 batting — fearless, calculated, and ruthless.”

Beyond the runs, the match has showcased India’s evolving white-ball approach — attacking from ball one and refusing to let bowlers settle. Namibia, meanwhile, will be searching for breakthroughs to halt the Indian momentum as the contest continues live.

With Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Rinku Singh still to come, India appear poised for a massive total if the current tempo continues. The match is still ongoing, and further updates are expected as Namibia attempt to claw their way back into the game.
