Sofie Gierts, head coach of the SG Pipers in the Women’s Hockey India League (WHIL), has said that contributing to the growth of women in sport — particularly in India — is a key motivation behind her involvement in the league. Gierts, one of the few women coaches at the professional level, believes India holds immense potential to become a global force in women’s sport.
Belief In Indian Players’ Potential
Gierts praised the confidence and natural ability of Indian women hockey players, noting that young athletes display fearlessness and creativity on the field.
