Bangladesh: At the 2025 Asian Archery Championships in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the Indian archery teams stole the limelight on Monday by advancing to the finals in two key categories.

In the men’s recurve event, the Indian trio of Atanu Das, Rahul and Yashdeep Bhoge defeated Kazakhstan 5-3 in the semi-final. India grabbed the first set, the second ended in a tie, and although Kazakhstan bounced back in the third set, India regrouped and clinched the crucial fourth set with a score of 57-52 to seal the win.

They will now face the mighty South Korea Men’s Recurve Team in the final.

Meanwhile, in the women’s compound team event, the Indian team made up of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Deepshika shot down the host nation Bangladesh 234-227 in their semi-final. The Indian women started strong with a four-point lead after the first set and never looked back.

They too will face South Korea — specifically the South Korea Women’s Compound Team — in their final.

These results mark a significant high for Indian archery this week, highlighting both experience and depth. Yashdeep Bhoge’s career-best qualification score of 687 (with nine Xs) and the strong performance of Deepshika (705) in qualification rounds has set the tone.

As the finals approach, all eyes will be on how India handles the daunting challenge of South Korea, long-time dominant force in Asian archery. The dual opportunities in both men’s recurve and women’s compound categories make this a pivotal moment — one with the potential to elevate India’s standing in the continental archery scene.
