Nat Sciver-Brunt owns 5 centuries in Women's World Cup

Cometh the hour, cometh the captain! England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt made her bat do the talking in a crucial ICC Women’s World Cup match against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Saturday. The ace cricketer scored a brilliant knock of 117 from 117 balls, being a glue for the England side. Her runs played a part as England got to 253/9 in 50 overs. The next best scorer was Tammy Beaumont, who scored 32 runs upfront.

The hundred was a special one for Sciver-Brunt as she is now the batter with most Women’s ODI World Cup hundreds. She also became the batter with the 2nd-most tons for England in Women’s ODIs.

A captain’s knock

Sciver-Brunt was the fulcrum of England’s batting. She came in at 49/2 and was part of a 60-run stand alongside Heather Knight. Thereafter, Sophia Dunkley (18), Emma Lamb (13) and Charlie Dean (19) hung around Sciver-Brunt. A string of partnerships with Sciver-Brunt cashing in at the death helped the 4-time World Cup winners get past 250. She perished in the 50th over. Her knock had nine fours and 2 sixes.

10 centuries for Sciver-Brunt in Women’s ODIs

Sciver-Brunt got to her 10th century in Women’s ODIs. She owns a tally of 4241 runs from 124 matches (110 innings) at an average of 47.12. This was her 35th fifty-plus score (100s: 10, 50s: 25). She now owns the 2nd-most hundreds for England Women in ODIs, surpassing Charlotte Edwards (9). Beaumont owns the most tons for ENG-W (12).

5th century for Sciver-Brunt in World Cup

This was Sciver-Brunt’s 5th century in Women’s World Cup history. As per ESPNcricinfo, her tally is now the highest, bettering the likes of CM Edwards (4), Suzie Bates (4) and J Brittin (4).

From 21 World Cup games. Sciver-Brunt owns a tally of 954 runs at 59.62. She has 5 hundreds and 2 fifties.
