New York, NY — Times Square turned into an open-air arena as Athlos, the women-only track and field series founded by Alexis Ohanian, staged a women’s long jump showcase under its iconic neon lights. The spectacle, held in front of the Disney and Sephora stores, marked the bold debut of Athlos’ mission—to bring women’s athletics directly to the public.

For long jump star Tara Davis-Woodhall, the moment was deeply symbolic. “To have a full-circle moment,” she said, “is pretty surreal and kind of emotional.”

The Times Square event kicked off Athlos’ New York weekend, which continues at Icahn Stadium with seven events, including sprints, hurdles, and middle-distance races. The meet offers a total prize pool of over $773,000, instant payouts via Cash App, and even a $250,000 bonus for any world record. Winners also receive Tiffany & Co. silver crowns, blending sport with luxury flair.

But Athlos isn’t just about prize money—it’s about reimagining how women’s track is presented. The meet includes live music, celebrity performances, and tributes to legends like Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

With stars like Faith Kipyegon, Marileidy Paulino, and Keely Hodgkinson competing, Athlos aims to make female athletes household names. Ohanian’s vision is clear: take track and field out of the stadium, give women’s sport the spotlight it deserves, and turn athletes into icons.

In the heart of Times Square, under the glare of the city’s lights, the women’s long jump didn’t just measure distance—it measured progress.
