Haris Rauf Fined For Code Of Conduct Breach During Asia Cup Clash Against India

ICC Imposes 30 Percent Match Fee Fine

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been fined 30 percent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match against India in Dubai. Match referee Richie Richardson handed down the sanction following Rauf’s on-field actions that were deemed provocative and inappropriate.

Controversial Gestures Spark Debate

During the contest, Rauf made gestures toward the crowd, including a “6-0” hand sign and an imitation of a falling aircraft. His actions, reportedly in response to heckling from spectators, drew sharp attention and were interpreted as references beyond cricket. The ICC deemed the behavior a violation of conduct standards designed to uphold the game’s spirit.

Sahibzada Farhan Escapes Fine But Warned

Teammate Sahibzada Farhan was also investigated for a celebratory gesture during the same match. While not fined, the Pakistan opener received an official reprimand, serving as a reminder to players to maintain discipline even amid intense rivalries.

Indian Skipper Also Penalised

In a parallel decision, India captain Suryakumar Yadav was fined 30 percent of his match fee for remarks made after India’s earlier group-stage win against Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has signaled an intention to appeal the ruling.

Impact Ahead Of Asia Cup Final

The disciplinary actions arrive at a crucial juncture as India and Pakistan are set to face off again in the Asia Cup final in Dubai. With both boards closely monitoring the fallout, the ICC’s firm stance underscores its efforts to prevent political or provocative expressions from overshadowing cricket’s marquee contests
