Max Burgin Shines & Hudson-Smith Faces Setback — Tokyo’s World Athletics Championships Unfold Drama and Records

Tokyo : Tokyo’s World Athletics Championships 2025 continues to deliver high drama and breathtaking feats. Mondo Duplantis once again stunned the world by setting a new pole vault world record at 6.30m, capturing his third consecutive title in spectacular fashion. Meanwhile, Tanzania’s Alphonce Simbu made history by winning the marathon—the first gold ever for his country at this championship.

On the explosive track, Cordell Tinch of the USA powered to gold in the men’s 110m hurdles with a blistering 12.99 seconds, ending a six-year reign of his predecessor. In women’s events, Ditaji Kambundji stole the spotlight by clocking a Swiss record to clinch victory in the 100m hurdles.

India’s Sarvesh Kushare impressed in the men’s high jump by setting a new personal best of 2.28m, finishing joint sixth in a high-quality field. On the other hand, Great Britain’s Matt Hudson-Smith faced heartbreak, missing the 400m final due to a hip injury.

The intense competition has drawn over 2,000 athletes from 200 countries, each displaying resilience and passion across 49 events, making Tokyo the world’s stage for athletic excellence. The blend of record-breaking moments, historic wins, and emotional performances ensures that every day offers fresh stories of triumph and challenge.

As the championships progress, the fight for medals grows fiercer, with new heroes emerging and legends reaffirming their greatness under the dazzling Tokyo lights. This is athletics at its thrilling, inspiring best .
