Lando Norris is taking his motorsport ambitions beyond Formula 1, with his newly established LN4 Fusion team confirmed for the 2027 Formula 2 season. The team has been selected for the next three-year championship cycle, running from 2027 to 2029, and will join 10 established outfits on the grid.

The announcement marks a significant step for the project, which was launched in September 2026 to help young drivers progress through the junior single-seater racing ladder. LN4 Fusion will take over the Formula 2 entry previously held by AIX Racing, giving the new team a place in one of the most important championships on the road to Formula 1.

LN4 Fusion Secures F2 Entry for 2027

Formula 2 confirmed its 11 teams for the 2027–2029 cycle, with LN4 Fusion selected as the only new entry. The team had already secured a place on the 2027 Formula 3 grid after acquiring selected assets from AIX Racing, but its participation in Formula 2 depended on the separate selection process.

That process has now concluded successfully, allowing LN4 Fusion to expand its presence across the junior racing categories. The team will compete under an Italian licence and will join established names such as ART Grand Prix, Campos Racing, Invicta Racing, Prema Racing and Rodin Motorsport.

Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel welcomed the new team, highlighting the championship’s strong interest from prospective entrants and expressing confidence that LN4 Fusion would bring valuable expertise to the grid.

The entry also gives the organisation an opportunity to build a more complete pathway for young drivers, from the early stages of single-seater racing to the final major step before Formula 1.

Lando Norris Builds a New Racing Team

Norris, the 2025 Formula 1 world champion, co-founded LN4 Fusion to support emerging drivers and create a competitive junior racing organisation. The project reflects his experience of progressing through the feeder categories before reaching the top level of motorsport with McLaren.

The team was established with backing from an investment group and has brought together experienced personnel from across junior racing. Former Prema Racing team principal René Rosin will lead the sporting operation, while former Prema technical chief Guillaume Capietto will serve as racing director.

Their experience is expected to play an important role as LN4 Fusion prepares for the demands of Formula 2, where teams must combine technical development, race strategy and driver preparation across a demanding international calendar.

Norris has also emphasised that success in motorsport requires more than natural ability. Access to experienced coaches, suitable equipment, financial support and the right opportunities can all influence whether a promising young driver reaches the top.

LN4 Fusion Targets the Formula 1 Pathway

Formula 2 represents the final major feeder championship before Formula 1, making the new entry an important part of LN4 Fusion’s wider development strategy. Drivers compete in high-pressure races on many of the same weekends and circuits as Formula 1, gaining experience in race management, tyre strategy and technical feedback.

LN4 Fusion’s expansion into Formula 2 builds on its planned participation in Formula 3, the Italian Formula 4 Championship and the FIA Formula Regional European Championship. The organisation is also operating a British Formula 4 testing programme while pursuing its wider ambitions in junior motorsport.

The team has already announced James Egozi, Gabriel Gomez and Dion Gowda as its three drivers for the 2027 Formula 3 campaign. However, its two Formula 2 race seats remain unconfirmed, and no driver lineup has been announced for the championship.

Securing the F2 entry so soon after the project’s launch gives LN4 Fusion an opportunity to establish its technical and sporting foundations before the 2027 season begins.

LN4 Legacy Programme to Support Young Drivers

Alongside the racing team, Norris has launched the LN4 Legacy Programme, a driver-development initiative designed to identify talented young racers and help them overcome barriers on their journey towards professional motorsport.

The programme aims to provide support through coaching, mentoring, performance guidance and career development. It is intended to complement the team’s competitive activities by helping promising drivers access opportunities that might otherwise remain out of reach.

The two initiatives share a common goal: to create a stronger development environment for young talent, combining racing opportunities with the guidance needed to progress through the sport.

For Norris, the project also offers a way to remain closely involved in motorsport beyond his own driving career. His experience of the junior categories gives him an understanding of the challenges facing young racers, particularly the importance of finding the right team and support system.

What LN4 Fusion’s F2 Entry Means for 2027

LN4 Fusion’s arrival adds another major project to the Formula 2 grid ahead of the 2027 season. The championship will feature 11 teams during the new three-year cycle, with the revised cars set to reflect the latest Formula 1 chassis regulations.

The immediate challenge for Norris’ team will be to assemble its F2 driver lineup, complete preparations and establish itself against organisations with years of championship experience. While its entry is confirmed, its competitiveness will depend on how effectively it builds the team ahead of the opening round.

The move nevertheless represents an important milestone for LN4 Fusion. With Formula 2 joining its existing junior programmes, the team is building a broader route for young drivers seeking to reach Formula 1.

For Norris, the ambition goes beyond creating another racing team. It is about helping the next generation access the opportunities, expertise and support required to compete at the highest level.
