Swiss middle-distance sensation Audrey Werro, Botswana’s Collen Kebinatshipi and Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino headline an unforgettable evening in Paris, while Marco Arop, Trayvon Bromell and Armand Duplantis also shine.

The 2026 Paris Diamond League produced one of the most spectacular athletics meetings of the season as three Diamond League records fell in a single evening. Audrey Werro, Collen Kebinatshipi and Marileidy Paulino stole the spotlight with breathtaking victories, while several other athletes produced world-leading performances at Stade Charléty.

Despite concerns over an intense heatwave in France before the competition, the meeting went ahead and rewarded fans with world-class performances across multiple disciplines.

Werro moves closer to history in women’s 800m

Switzerland’s Audrey Werro continued her remarkable rise by storming to victory in the women’s 800m in 1:53.80, setting a new Diamond League record and the third-fastest time ever recorded in the event.

Werro took control after the opening lap before pulling away in the closing stages. The performance also made her the first woman in history to run under 1:54 on two separate occasions.

The battle behind her was equally impressive. Femke Broeders-Bol finished second with a personal best of 1:55.60, while France’s Anaïs Bourgoin thrilled the home crowd by clocking a national record 1:55.65. Australia’s Sarah Billings also set a new Oceanian record.

Kebinatshipi dominates men’s 400m

Botswana’s world champion Collen Kebinatshipi delivered another outstanding performance, winning the men’s 400m in 43.54 seconds to establish a new Diamond League record.

Great Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith led entering the final straight, but Kebinatshipi unleashed a powerful finish to secure victory.

Men’s 400m Results

Collen Kebinatshipi (Botswana) – 43.54

Zakithi Nene (South Africa) – 43.89

Chris Bailey (USA) – 44.06

Matthew Hudson-Smith (Great Britain) – 44.09

His winning time came within one-hundredth of his personal best and further confirmed his status as one of the world’s finest one-lap runners.

Paulino breaks another Diamond League record

Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino once again proved her class by winning the women’s 400m in 48.48 seconds, another Diamond League record.

The Dominican runner accelerated brilliantly over the final 150 metres to leave the field behind. It was the third-fastest performance of her career and the fastest women’s 400m run in the world this season.

Lurdes Gloria Manuel finished second in 49.37, while Stacey Ann Williams claimed third in 49.51.

Marco Arop produces world-leading 800m

Canada’s Marco Arop dominated the men’s 800m with a commanding 1:41.84, the fastest time in the world this year.

The 2023 world champion controlled the race from the front and finished almost two seconds clear of the rest of the field.

Men’s 800m Results

Marco Arop (Canada) – 1:41.84 (World Lead)

Niels Laros (Netherlands) – 1:43.60

Tobias Gronstad (Norway) – 1:43.63

Other standout performances

The Paris meeting featured several more memorable results:

Trayvon Bromell defeated Olympic champion Noah Lyles in the men’s 100m, winning in 9.91 seconds, while Lyles finished second in 9.92.

Armand Duplantis cleared 6.13m to set a new meeting record in the pole vault before unsuccessfully attempting a world-record height of 6.32m.

Cameron Myers produced a world-leading 3:28.00 in the men’s 1500m, setting a new Oceanian record.

Tobi Amusan claimed victory in the women’s 100m hurdles in 12.28.

Grant Fisher captured the men’s 5000m title in 12:54.80 after a tactical race.

Germany’s Karl Bebendorf won the men’s 3000m steeplechase in a personal best 8:05.55.

Sarah Mitton won the women’s shot put with 19.99m, while Yan Ziyi took the women’s javelin with 67.44m.

A night to remember in Paris

The Paris Diamond League proved why it remains one of the premier meetings on the global athletics calendar. Three Diamond League records, multiple world-leading performances and several national and personal bests highlighted an evening packed with elite competition. With the season approaching its biggest championships, many of the world’s top athletes have shown they are reaching peak form at exactly the right time.
