Marco Bezzecchi delivered a memorable performance at the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, converting home support into a crucial victory at Mugello and extending his lead in the MotoGP Riders’ Championship standings.

Racing in front of a passionate Italian crowd, the Aprilia rider showcased impressive pace and consistency throughout the weekend. The win marked another major step in his pursuit of a maiden MotoGP world title and reinforced Aprilia’s dominance during the 2026 season.

The Mugello triumph allowed Bezzecchi to increase his championship tally to 173 points, opening a 17-point advantage over teammate Jorge Martin, who remains his closest challenger in the title race. The result also completed a strong weekend for Aprilia, underlining the manufacturer’s growing influence at the front of the grid.

Top 10 MotoGP Riders’ Standings After the Italian Grand Prix

Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) – 173 points

Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) – 156 points

Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46 Ducati) – 134 points

Pedro Acosta (KTM) – 103 points

Ai Ogura (Trackhouse Aprilia) – 92 points

Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Aprilia) – 87 points

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) – 82 points

Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo) – 71 points

Alex Marquez (Gresini Ducati) – 67 points

Fermin Aldeguer (Gresini Ducati) – 59 points

Championship Picture Becoming Clearer

While Bezzecchi and Martin continue to set the pace at the top, Fabio Di Giannantonio remains within striking distance in third place. KTM’s Pedro Acosta continues to impress as the leading non-Aprilia challenger, while Ducati riders Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez face increasing pressure to close the gap in the coming rounds.

Marquez’s steady points haul at Mugello was another positive sign following his return, but the Spaniard still has significant ground to make up if he hopes to challenge for the championship.

Aprilia Emerges as Team to Beat

One of the biggest stories of the season continues to be Aprilia’s remarkable rise. With multiple riders occupying positions near the top of the standings, the Italian manufacturer has transformed itself into the benchmark team of the 2026 campaign.

As the championship heads into its next phase, Bezzecchi’s Mugello masterclass could prove to be one of the defining moments of the season. With momentum firmly on his side and Aprilia operating at peak performance, the Italian rider has strengthened his claim as the man to beat in the race for the MotoGP crown.
