India endured a mixed outing in the badminton tournament as Malvika Bansod and Ashmita Chaliha advanced to the second round, while top men’s singles stars Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy suffered disappointing early exits.
Malvika displayed excellent control and composure to secure her place in the next round with a confident performance. Ashmita also impressed with her aggressive gameplay and consistency during crucial moments.
However, India’s campaign suffered setbacks after Lakshya and Prannoy failed to progress further in the competition. Both players struggled to maintain momentum against their opponents and were knocked out in straight games.
Lakshya, who has been among India’s most promising badminton stars in recent years, could not find rhythm during key rallies. Prannoy too faced difficulties against a strong opponent and exited earlier than expected.
Despite the men’s singles disappointment, the performances of Malvika and Ashmita provided positives for the Indian contingent.
The tournament continues to serve as an important platform for Indian players ahead of upcoming international events later in the season.
