Delhi Capitals chose to bowl first against Rajasthan Royals in an important IPL 2026 encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday as both sides continued their push for playoff qualification.
RR made one notable change to their playing XI, resting veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja due to workload management, with Ravi Singh coming into the side as his replacement.
At the toss, DC captain Axar Patel confirmed that youngster Tripurana Vijay would make his IPL debut and expressed confidence in his side despite the pressure of a must-win situation.
RR skipper Riyan Parag admitted uncertainty over the nature of the pitch, saying the surface appeared dry but had generally favoured chasing teams during the season. He also acknowledged Rajasthan’s recent struggles in defending totals.
Delhi Capitals entered the contest needing a victory to stay alive in the playoff race after a mixed campaign that left them near the bottom half of the table. Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, remained firmly in contention for a top-four finish despite inconsistent recent results.
