Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi will reportedly attend the upcoming ICC Board meeting virtually and has not been invited to the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad, according to reports.
The development comes amid continued tensions between the cricket boards of India and Pakistan, with bilateral cricket relations between the two neighbouring nations remaining limited to ICC and ACC tournaments.
Naqvi To Join ICC Meeting Online
The ICC Board meeting is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad alongside the IPL 2026 final festivities, bringing together top cricket administrators from around the world.
However, reports suggest that Naqvi will not travel to India for the meeting and is expected to participate through virtual mode instead. The PCB chief was also reportedly not invited to attend the IPL final event.
The absence of Pakistan’s top cricket administrator from the high-profile gathering has once again highlighted the sensitive nature of cricketing ties between the two countries.
India-Pakistan Cricket Relations Remain Strained
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral cricket series in over a decade due to political tensions, although clashes between the two sides in ICC events continue to attract massive global audiences.
Administrative relations between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and PCB have also witnessed multiple disagreements in recent years over scheduling, hosting rights and tournament participation.
The latest development surrounding the ICC meeting has added another chapter to the ongoing diplomatic and cricketing complexities between the boards.
IPL Final Set For Grand Ahmedabad Showdown
Despite the off-field discussions, focus in India remains firmly on the IPL 2026 final, which is expected to draw huge crowds and worldwide television viewership.
Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium is once again preparing to host the title clash, continuing its status as one of the premier venues for marquee cricket events.
The IPL has grown into one of the world’s biggest sporting leagues, attracting players, officials and fans from across the globe every season.
ICC Discussions Likely To Cover Key Issues
The ICC Board meeting is expected to address several important topics related to international cricket governance, scheduling and future tournament planning.
With global cricket undergoing rapid expansion through franchise leagues and evolving tournament structures, decisions taken during the meeting could significantly shape the sport’s future direction.
Meanwhile, Naqvi’s virtual participation ensures PCB representation remains part of the discussions despite his absence from Ahmedabad.
