Chinese shuttlers produced a dominant display at the Thailand Open 2026, securing spots in three finals after an impressive semifinal outing in Bangkok on Saturday.
Olympic champion Chen Yufei marched into the women’s singles final with a commanding straight-game victory over Japan’s Hina Akechi. The defending champion looked in complete control throughout the contest and will now face Japanese star Akane Yamaguchi in the title clash.
China also confirmed its presence in the women’s doubles final as Bao Lijing and Cao Zihan defeated Chinese Taipei pair Hu Ling-fang and Jheng Yu-chieh 21-18, 21-17. The Chinese duo will now lock horns with Japan’s Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi in the championship match.
In mixed doubles, China’s strong run continued with Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui advancing to the final after a hard-fought semifinal victory. The pair kept their nerves under pressure to ensure another medal opportunity for the Chinese contingent.
However, China’s hopes in men’s singles came to an end after top contender Lu Guangzu crashed out in the semifinals. Despite the setback, China will still head into finals day with strong medal hopes across multiple categories.
The Thailand Open has once again highlighted China’s growing depth in international badminton, with its players delivering consistent performances across disciplines ahead of a packed international season.
