Aryaveer Dewan to Lead India’s Charge at Asian Junior Squash Championships in China

India’s rising squash talent Aryaveer Dewan is set to lead the country’s campaign at the upcoming Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships in China. The prestigious tournament will be held in Panzhihua from May 20 to 24.

Aryaveer enters the competition with growing expectations after his breakthrough performance last year, when he captured the boys’ U-17 title and ended India’s 13-year wait for the crown in that category.

This year, the talented Indian player moves up to the boys’ U-19 category, where he has been seeded third for the continental event.

India will field a strong 32-member squad across multiple age categories ranging from U-11 to U-19, reflecting the country’s growing depth in junior squash.

The Indian contingent heads into the tournament with confidence following an impressive outing in the previous edition, where the team secured seven medals, including two gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

Apart from Aryaveer, India will have several seeded contenders in different categories. In the boys’ U-13 section, Abhyuday Arora and Amarya Bajaj are both seeded 3/4, while Shresht Iyer enters the boys’ U-15 draw as the second seed.

India’s girls’ squad also boasts strong medal hopes. Divyanshi Jain has received the second seed in the girls’ U-13 category, while Shanaya Parasrampuria, Aadya Budhia and Anika Dubey are all seeded 3/4 in their respective age groups.

The U-19 girls’ lineup features promising names including Unnati Tripathi, Eesha Shrivastava, Akanksha Gupta and Vyomika Khandelwal.

India’s junior squash programme has shown significant progress in recent years, with players consistently producing strong performances at Asian and global junior events. Aryaveer himself has emerged as one of the country’s brightest prospects after winning major junior titles in both Asia and international competitions.

With a blend of experienced junior internationals and emerging talent, India will aim to further strengthen its reputation as a rising force in Asian squash during the championships in China.
