Hockey India Expands Level-1 Coaching Programme, Certifies Over 600 Coaches
Hockey India has expanded its Level-1 Coaching Course to new cities as part of its long-term mission to strengthen grassroots hockey development and improve coaching standards across the country.
The federation announced that more than 600 coaches have now been certified through the Hockey India Coaching Education Pathway since the programme鈥檚 launch in 2019.
Courses Expanded to Coimbatore and Haridwar
The latest Level-1 coaching courses will be conducted in Coimbatore and Haridwar through multiple batches during May and June 2026.
The initiative is aimed at building a wider network of technically trained coaches capable of developing players from grassroots to elite levels.
Focus on Long-Term Grassroots Development
Hockey India said the programme has become a key pillar in the federation鈥檚 developmental roadmap by creating structured pathways for aspiring coaches nationwide.
The certification system focuses on modern coaching methodologies, technical understanding, athlete development, and performance management.
Strengthening India鈥檚 Hockey Ecosystem
The expansion comes at a time when Indian hockey continues to grow strongly at both senior and junior levels across men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 competitions.
Officials believe increasing the number of qualified coaches will help improve talent identification, player development, and overall standards within domestic hockey structures.
