Strong Competition from China and Vietnam

China’s Jinlan Zhao dominated the category to win the gold medal with a total lift of 216kg, while Vietnam’s Hoai Huong Nguyen claimed the overall silver medal with a combined effort of 195kg.

Despite facing tough Asian competition, Gyaneshwari’s podium finish marked another encouraging result for India in the championship. (iwf.sport)

India’s Medal Tally Continues to Grow

Earlier in the tournament, Komal Kohar had opened India’s medal account by securing a bronze medal in the women’s 48kg category.

The ongoing Asian Senior Championships are being held at the Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar and feature 178 lifters from 28 Asian nations along with two Commonwealth countries. (en.wikipedia.org)

Important Qualification Event Ahead of Commonwealth Games

The championships also serve as an important qualification pathway for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, adding extra significance to the performances of Indian lifters.

With home support and growing momentum, Indian weightlifting continues to show steady progress on the continental stage as the country builds towards future international competitions.
