American tennis sensation Coco Gauff produced another gritty comeback performance to book her place in the fourth round of the Italian Open after defeating Argentina’s Solana Sierra in Rome.
The third seed dropped the opening set 5-7 before responding emphatically to win 6-0, 6-4 in a match that tested both her composure and fighting spirit.
After struggling early against Sierra’s aggressive baseline play, Gauff completely shifted momentum during the second set, dominating with powerful returns and improved consistency from the back of the court.
The American continued her strong clay-court form ahead of the French Open and once again showed why she remains one of the favourites for major titles this season.
Despite some serving inconsistencies during the tournament, Gauff’s resilience and athleticism helped her close out the contest in difficult conditions in Rome.
