Spurs Crush Timberwolves in Game 2 to Level NBA Playoff Series

The San Antonio Spurs bounced back in emphatic style on Wednesday night, overpowering the Minnesota Timberwolves 133-95 in Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinal series to level the contest at 1-1.

After suffering a narrow defeat in Game 1, the Spurs responded with an aggressive all-round performance that left Minnesota struggling on both ends of the floor. San Antonio seized control in the second quarter and never looked back, delivering one of the biggest playoff victories in franchise postseason history.

Victor Wembanyama starred for the Spurs with a commanding display, finishing with 19 points and 15 rebounds while anchoring the team defensively. De’Aaron Fox added 16 points, while rookie Stephon Castle chipped in with 21 points to continue his impressive playoff run.

San Antonio’s balanced offense proved too much for Minnesota as multiple players reached double figures. Julian Champagnie also made a major impact, knocking down four three-pointers during a dominant third quarter that effectively ended the contest.

The Timberwolves struggled offensively throughout the night and recorded their lowest-scoring first half of the season. Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels, and Terrence Shannon Jr. each scored 12 points, but Minnesota never found any rhythm against San Antonio’s relentless defensive pressure.

Minnesota had entered Game 2 with confidence after edging the Spurs 104-102 in the series opener, where Wembanyama had registered a historic 12-block performance despite offensive struggles. However, the Spurs adjusted brilliantly in the second game, improving their shooting efficiency and controlling the pace from start to finish.

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson praised his team’s energy and execution after the victory, while the Timberwolves were left searching for answers ahead of Game 3 in Minneapolis.

The series now shifts to Minnesota with momentum swinging back toward San Antonio after a statement win that reasserted the Spurs as serious contenders in the Western Conference playoffs.
